The Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI) are responsible for the monitoring of the
electricity supply industry in South Australia.
This function was previously the domain of the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), and prior to that,
the Electricity Supply and Industry Planning Council (ESIPC).
When ESIPC were tasked with the responsibility for monitoring the SA electricity supply industry,
they partnered with Syslinx, who (based on our previous energy market experience) were able to rapidly
develop ESPIC’s energy market software systems. These systems give information on market conditions
(ie. Price and loads, both current, historical and forecast), and distribute messages based on market
conditions (ie. Market notices, prices above certain level, loads above certain level).
Syslinx continue to support and maintain DTEI’s energy market systems. We are also still involved
with AEMO, managing their data replication suite which provides published data from NEMMCO to a DTEI database.
Prior to our work with DTEI and AEMO, Syslinx developed a number of systems for the energy industry, including:
- ElectraNet - Energy market software, Control systems integration software
- Optima Energy - Energy market software, decision support software for energy trading
and the Master Hedge Agreement system
The image to the right illustrates the type of technology that Syslinx have been able to provide to our energy industry clients.
It shows the Bid Stack - a list of Megawatt quantities and prices, sorted by price and stacked each electricity supplier.
It then overlays "demand" across the chart, and where demand cuts the stack represents the regional price of power at that time.
